Project Overview

CTSS installed full-length electromagnetic locking hardware across multiple interior doors at a commercial facility. The project involved a series of controlled rooms located along a shared corridor, requiring a consistent access control solution across numerous door openings.

Each opening required careful preparation, hardware alignment, wiring access, and coordination with the existing doors, frames, and closers.

The Challenge

The project involved multiple doors within a single active facility, each requiring accurate alignment and consistent hardware placement. Access control wiring had to be routed to the individual openings while preserving the existing walls, doors, frames, and finished surfaces.

Because electromagnetic locking hardware depends on proper contact and alignment, variations between door openings had to be addressed during installation.

The Solution

CTSS prepared each doorway for a full-length electromagnetic locking assembly and routed the required low-voltage wiring to the access control locations.

The full-length lock housings were fitted along the doors and frames to provide consistent coverage and a finished appearance. Hardware was staged and installed systematically throughout the corridor, allowing the same access control configuration to be applied across multiple controlled rooms.

The installed locks were aligned with the existing doors and door closers to support reliable engagement and release.

Results

The facility received a consistent electronic locking solution across multiple interior doors. The full-length electromagnetic assemblies provide controlled locking at each opening while maintaining a uniform appearance throughout the hallway.

The completed infrastructure allows the doors to be integrated into a centralized access control system, subject to the final controller, reader, programming, and life-safety configuration.

Project FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a full-length electromagnetic lock?

A full-length electromagnetic lock uses an extended housing installed along a larger portion of the door or frame. It can provide a more uniform installation, protect wiring and hardware, and create a cleaner finished appearance than exposed locking components.

Can multiple doors be connected to one access control system?

Yes. A commercial access control system can manage multiple doors from a centralized controller or software platform. Each door may have its own lock, reader, request-to-exit device, door contact, and access permissions.

Can existing commercial doors be retrofitted with maglocks?

Many existing commercial doors can be retrofitted with electromagnetic locks. The door construction, frame condition, alignment, available wiring pathways, egress requirements, and fire rating must be evaluated before selecting the hardware.

Do electromagnetic locks require emergency release hardware?

Electromagnetic locking systems generally require approved release and egress methods based on the door use and applicable building and fire codes. The exact requirements depend on the facility, occupancy, local authority, and system design.

Need Access Control Across Multiple Doors?
